A very special "My Hero" letter By: Alexis Tupponce

October 21, 2011
Dear Mommy,

Thank you so much for allowing me to interview you as being my hero! I enjoyed having you as my hero because you helped me to understand your life better. I also enjoyed interviewing you because you are a great and important person in my life that I love very much.
When I was presenting my project, I made sure that people really understood and paid attention to what you did to make this world a better place and why. I was proud of my project because it helped me to understand about all of the special community projects that you were involved in such as; adopting a highway and staying outside all day and picking up any litter or trash that you would find on the ground.
This project taught me not only are you important at home, but you are important to our community.  I wish all people would take pride in our community as you did, then the world would be a better place for people to live in. :)
                                                                                                    Love,
                                                                                                    Alexis <333

  1. What a keepsake! Alexis seems like a great kiddo. Your blog looks great. I think you may be enjoying this! I attended an ipad training and we talked about using audio to capture young kids' voices in all types of ways. This might be one way to do the hero project with younger ones who don't have their written expression down yet.

  3. Monica,

You're definitely leading by example because it's exemplified in your daughter's writing. Her story gave me a true picture of you and what you've done w/in your community. I know that you're very proud of Alexis.

Like the others have posted, you are such a great leader and hero for her. She has such a great mother to look up to. You are teaching by example, she is going to grow up to be a wonderful young lady!

  5. Hello fellow colleagues,

Thank you very much for the kind words and for recognizing Alexis' letter. This was a project that she had to complete at school and upon completion of the project, they were instructed to write a thank you letter to the person who they considered to be their hero. When I received this letter in the mail, my heart melted.I appreciate the letter so much that I framed it and hung it on the wall in a very special place within my home.
