My favorite children's literature book is...

* "Goldilocks and the Three Bears"
I have chosen this book for two reasons. The first reason is due to the success I experienced while teaching "Reader's Workshop" to my 1st and 2nd grade students! "Goldilocks and the Three Bears" was the perfect book to use when teaching the concept of this reading approach, whereas the children recognized that just as the bed had to be just right ...the porridge had to be just right ... so did the book they were shopping for. This was a great teaching tool and resulted in students  reading independently, with great comprehension, fluency and confidence. The second reason I have chosen this book is because my children enjoyed acting out the book and putting on a play for mommy...

  1. "Godilocks and the Three Bears" is indeed a wonderful book to engage in those teachable moments. My children learned comparisons from the story. I haven't acted it out yet, but I think that would be very interesting and fun!

  2. That is a wonderful book along with other fairy tales book. My kids in Pre-K love fairy tales. They have acted out several books on their such the Little Red Riding Hood, Goldilock and the Three Bears, and The Three Little Pigs. During center time have some students building three house out of straw, sticks, and brick. Which we do not have straw, but they pretend using different things to represent the three different houses. I also love the all of the retold by James Marshall
